Design Note #1
Today, I sent emails to two museums hoping to apply for a volunteer position — I'm so over commercial projects. I've actually emailed six museums so far and still haven't heard back from any of them - feeling a bit bummed about it. I think the reason why it's hard for me to find good design partners is that my style is too chaotic — It's like a design trash bin when I put them all in one folder. I used to get bored of a style and move on to something completely different as soon as I hit a roadblock. For example, I gave up on axonometric style just because I found it too annoying to draw irregular lines with Bezier curves - not that it was that hard or anything.
Anyways, LU Shu and I talked it out and we're gonna stick with my vector isometric style for the next few years. It's simple, but it'll stop me from obsessing over unnecessary details.
To kick things off, I drew this little bookstore made out of shipping containers that I saw on my walk today. Looks like it sells or lends comic books - how cool is that? It's like a little sanctuary in the middle of the crazy city. I even hung up some ukiyo-e prints inside to give it some character.
