Ryder Family Crest
This design was made for a project to create your own family crest. I took an abnormal approach to this project by giving it an abnormal shape. Most examples of a family crest were working within the general shape of a shield. I decided that I could do more and be more creative with my design. I wanted something that would better reflect my family than some images inside a shield, so I decided to put them on cards. my family has a large interest in tabletop games of all kinds and I thought that would be a great way to portray our family crest. the cards have letters relating to various symbols of common playing cards: hearts, diamonds, clovers, and spades. the cards also include the Argentinian sun from their country flag. More than half of my extended family comes from Argentina so I thought it would be important to express in a project made to express my family. Around the cards is the king from a chess board to represent traditional tabletop gaming, a dice to represent malleable and new ideas within gaming, and a sword to represent D&D and other widely open and personalizable games. My family plays games all throughout the spectrum so I thought it was right to give spotlight to all forms of tabletop games in this logo just like family does. After I finalized the emblem, I heat pressed it onto a mug twice to give to both of my parents as a gift.
