Animating the Illustration for this was a nice challenge. I made the smoke by making lots of circles move across a curved path, mirrored and time offset on the y axis. The flame was two shapes I drew in After Effects, with a wave deformation running through them. CC Particle World with custom shapes was used for the flame particles, and some fast wiggle effect applied to the rocket to make it shake.
