Weird Foods – Vietnamese tuna Eye Noodles.

Tuna noodles are a popular dish in the central region of Vietnam. Today, however, when you stroll through your local fish market or seafood store, you'll see a very different part of the tuna looking at you: its eyeballs. You can try tuna eyes at restaurants in Quy Nhon or Phu Yen provinces. The food seems very scary, one or two eyeballs the size of tennis balls are looking at you from your plate. The eye consists of a hard outer layer, called the sclera, which holds the lens, iris, and viscous fluid. When cooked, the sclera is milky white and often too tough to eat, but the inside of the eye becomes soft and can be easily sucked out like bone marrow. It has fatty taste.Last weekend, my husband's parents went to a wedding in Quy Nhon and brought us 1kg of tuna eyes with about 5 eyeballs. I cooked Vietnamese tuna eye noodles for family dinner.
