Designing a Guided Diet Journal for Mindful Eating

“Note to self: Eat crap, feel crap.”

When I first stumbled on this on Pinterest, I had to bookmark it because it’s one of those things that’s so laughably simple yet profoundly true. I feel sluggish for most of the day when I eat too much processed, carb-rich, sugary food.

On the other hand, when I focus on the good stuff, I have more energy and I feel like I can tackle anything. I look and feel better, too. Eating healthier is a win all around.

That led me to keep a food journal. I started writing down the food I ate and how I felt after. I noticed a pattern and soon became more aware of the types of food that made me feel better or worse. I gradually made changes to my diet and the results were remarkable.

But keeping a food journal is just one part of the game. It also involves a good amount of planning, budgeting, and discipline.

As French author François de la Rochefoucauld said...

“To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.”

This inspired the guided diet journal I recently designed. Whether the goal is to lose weight, identify food intolerances, gain muscle, or improve overall well-being, this tool guides you step by step to get there. Here are a few pages on mockups.
