Minneapolis Astronomical Season

The Autumnal Equinox is tomorrow at 3:22 AM Central.

Today's doodle/infographic is an attempt to help me better understand, and share, more about the astronomical season.

Autumnal and Spring (also called Vernal) Equinoxes = direct solar energy is equal in both hemispheres. Winter Solstice = direct solar energy focused on the southern hemisphere. Summer Solstice = direct solar energy is focused on the northern hemisphere.

Also included, when Earth will be closest (Perihelion) and furthest (Aphelion) from the Sun.

*Just noticed -- the winter solstice should be December 22nd.
