Ketupat | Orange | Ondeh-Ondeh Drawings

Created using Krita(๑´ﻌ`๑)

Insight

These were some food drawings that I drew which were used in my FYP (Final-Year Project). My goal of the drawings were to capture the essence of traditional Malay cuisine and its visual richness. The intricacies of ketupat's woven palm leaves, the vibrant zest of ripe oranges, and the soft, sweet allure of Ondeh-Ondeh were all drawn with detail as I wanted it to look real with precision and care. These drawings also serve as an artistic homage to the cultural significance of these dishes and invite viewers to appreciate the beauty in everyday culinary traditions.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, I believe these drawings also act as a bridge between heritage and contemporary design. They preserve and elevate the essence of Malay cuisine, making it accessible to a wider audience while retaining its cultural integrity. The use of bold, vivid colors and meticulous attention to textures adds a tactile quality to the illustrations, enhancing the viewer's sensory experience which was what I was going for.
