Transphere

-

Transphere is an asynchronous communication service for astronauts embarking on missions to Mars. The goal is to assist them in maintaining contact with their loved ones back on Earth despite the data transfer delays.

This project was designed with the essential assistance of Romain Charles, a French engineer who actively participated in the Mars500 mission, a simulation mission of travel and life on Mars. He is therefore very familiar with all the challenges of solitude, close quarters, and communication under these conditions.

Transphere is the solution to the challenges posed by communication delays between Earth and Mars, as well as the realities of the mission as described by Romain Charles.

It’s a virtual space where astronauts and their loved ones exchange audio and text messages in the form of capsules. They can also engage in turn-based games tailored for VR.

A timeline feature will be accessible at any time to provide a visual representation of the mission's duration. The astronaut will also be able to consult their favorite messages there at any time.

Special attention will be given to sound design and 3D environments to cater to the sensory needs of astronauts.

The headset design is intended to emit soft light signals when new messages are received within the application.
