Zeus was considered the leader of the Olympian gods, the second generation of deities who overthrew the Titans. After defeating his father, Cronus, and the other Titans, Zeus and his siblings—Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia—established themselves as the ruling pantheon on Mount Olympus.

Zeus is often depicted with a regal presence, sitting on a throne or holding a thunderbolt, which is his primary weapon.
