Ardent
Ardent is my Chekhonin-inspired typeface. Ardent is an attempt to prove that the bizarre Cyrillic letterforms of 20s are still decent for use in modern design, even in Latin script. It is highly ornamental and lapidary. Ardent supports many languages.
The labours of Sergey Chekhonin were just a starting point for me, the letters then have developed on their own. In this project I've started thinking about letters not as of lines (bold or thin) but as of spots. The black masses with different contours. In fact I've invented nothing new, but I've got a tremendously great pleasure playing with these curves.
Ardent is powerfully OpenTyped. There are almost random glyph variation for certain letters! It's all maintained by contextual alternates.
Very soon, Ardent will be available for sale!
