The Brown-Villere Mansion

The Brown-Villere Mansion. 4717 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. Built 1901-1904.

It was originally built by the “Cotton King,” W.P. Brown — also the founder of what was to become Hibernia Bank. The house was built upon the promise to his new bride that they would live in the most palatial home New Orleans had ever seen.

This Romanesque Revival mansion on St. Charles Avenue contains about 22,000 square feet on four floors.
