Goombay Punch Billboard Design (Concept)
Goombay Punch is a beloved Bahamian tropical fruit favoured soda that is highly sweet and packed with sugar.
This concept explores rebranding Goomaby Punch through inspiration from the history and meaning of "Goombay", a form of Bahamian music created by using a goat skin drum. These drums are used heavily in Junkanoo, a symbolic Bahamain street festival that's filled with music, dancing and colourful handmade costumes. Any Bahamian will tell you that Junkanoo is an experience and there's a "rush" of energy that overtakes you when the music, dancing, costumes and spirit of the crowd all come together.
That sweet, energetic charge you feel while experiencing Junkanoo is similar to the "sweet sugar rush" you might feel while drinking Goombay Punch. It's the energy I sought to incorporate while designing these billboards, by taking existing colors within the original soda can design, adjusting them and then combining them with dynamic, high energy imagery and text.
