Pixel Artwork | "You Decide"

This room is a representation of the mind and life’s circumstances.

Sometimes we have control over smaller decisions but the greater paths are already laid out. With anxiety, it can feel like you’re trapped in your head, playing out scenarios over and over, focused on the absolute worst case. It doesn’t matter what choice you make because you’re seeing the worst ending from both decisions.

When the anxiety is gone, it can feel like the exact opposite. Like you have endless directions to go in and they're all the right one.

These two artworks were loaded into an HTML file and set into a CSS grid. I then wrote some JavaScript that allowed me to click each grid cell and randomly pull a section from one of the two artworks. The end result is absolutely chaotic — beautifully representing the life of someone with mental illness.

This work was inspired by my own mental battles and loosely inspired by the song Black of my Eyes by @bodysnatcherfl.
