Book Cover Design

The Great Gatsby, the Third novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, was published in 1925. Set in Jazz Age New York, it tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, and his pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman he loved in his youth.

This book cover design is not just a visual representation of The Great Gatsby, but an attempt to encapsulate the essence of Jay Gatsby's mysterious life. I endeavoured to infuse the cover with luxury that mirrors Gatsby's aspirations.

I opted for a sans-serif typeface for the typography, but I didn't want it to be ordinary. I wanted it to exude style and sophistication. That's why I chose the 'Blakely' typeface, which, in my opinion, perfectly complements the cover design.

Every element of this cover design, from the illustrative motifs to the key design styles, was crafted meticulously. For the motif, I aimed for a design that could be repeated without becoming tiresome, and the elegant lines on the cover achieved just that.

Through this cover design, I hope to capture the eyes of anybody who sees it and draw readers to Jay Gatsby's elegant and luxurious life.
