Student Green Initiative Logomark

In April 2014, I re-branded SCAD Atlanta's Student Green Initiative (SGI) (twitter: @SGIteam).

The logo is a play on ISO Safety Signs, and illustrates explosive growth. It is a direct illustration of SGI's mission: to add green space and improve walkability on the SCAD Atlanta campus through tactical urbanism.

Tactical Urbanism (http://www.citylab.com/design/2012/03/guide-tactical-urbanism/1387/) democratizes urban design in an often-iconoclastic manner. It encourages the inhabitants of a space to stage small experiments to validate larger changes, rather than waiting for City Hall to unveil a moonshot plan.

Just as a wildflower does not wait for permission to grow through cracks in the concrete, tactical urbanists do not wait for governing bodies to legislate overdue change in their surroundings.

As always, I've added a rough sketch video. I sketch all of my icons in procreate before building vectors in sketch app or affinity designer. I like to separate the step of designing the right shapes from that of tracing them with the pen tool.
