Cat Alphabet

Cat Alphabet & Lettering for 36 Days of Type

Committing to something is hard. We all know that! Doing something consistently can be daunting but it doesn’t have to be if you set small obtainable goals.

For @36daysoftype I’m allowed myself 30 minutes to illustrate a letter. No more. Pencils down.  Sure these letters are rough and have room to improve, but I’m sticking with illustrating them. Why? Because I made a boundary. A cut off. I set a time restriction, and selected a simple style and color palette to stay within.

Setting yourself up for success is half the battle. I love to create beautiful art and perfect sketches, but sometimes in life … done is better than perfect.

I love giving my clients the best work I can, but I also know how to keep it moving within a time crunch and within budget. Sometimes production is more important when a deadline looms and a printer is waiting for a file. Sure in a perfect world I’d provide dozens of comps, tweak the art until it’s perfect to the core and explore every idea. BUT this would take months and the client would never have finished files on time. Design is balance. Like all things in life, you must find that happy medium. Get it done and move on.

Here are my letter forms designed using all cat poses. Hope you enjoy this alphabet!
