I recently had the opportunity to work on a very exciting project within the DeFi space. Sandclock is a yield-generating platform that gives users the capability of earning on their stablecoins and allocating yield to keep, give to charities or re-invest. My role was to explore what an autonomous exchange could look like on their native platform.

The Sandclock team approached me to undertake the exciting task of designing a cutting-edge decentralised exchange (DEX). The goal of this design project was to create a decentralised exchange that offers an improved user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) while incorporating robust research capabilities. The aim was to provide users with a seamless and intuitive trading experience on a decentralised platform.

Objective

The primary objective of this project was to design and develop a user-friendly and intuitive platform for The Sandclock team's Decentralized Exchange (DEX). The goal was to align the design with the team's vision and business objectives, ensuring it provided an improved user experience (UX) for traders. Key focus areas were the onboarding process, user interface, and research capabilities.

Approach

Throughout the design process, close collaboration with The Sandclock team was maintained to gain a deep understanding of their vision and business goals. Regular feedback sessions were conducted, which facilitated an iterative approach to design, allowing for continuous improvement based on real user insights.

To streamline the onboarding process, I conducted user research and identified pain points faced by potential users during the signup process. This led to the creation of a simplified and seamless onboarding experience, reducing barriers to entry and encouraging more users to join the platform.

For the user interface, the design was approached with a focus on cleanliness, intuitiveness, and visual engagement. Through wireframes and mockups, I crafted a layout that enabled users to navigate the DEX effortlessly and execute trades efficiently.

Solution

The final design solution presented a cohesive and user-centric platform for The Sandclock DEX. The onboarding process was optimized to require minimal user input while still ensuring necessary information was collected.

This enhanced user acquisition and contributed to higher conversion rates. The user interface was designed to be visually appealing, yet functional, enabling traders to access all necessary information with ease. Intuitive navigation features, such as clear call-to-action buttons and well-organized sections, contributed to a seamless trading experience.

The design also incorporated responsive elements, ensuring accessibility across various devices and screen sizes. A major highlight of the platform was the research capabilities. I designed a dedicated research section that provided comprehensive market data, trends, and analysis.

This user-friendly research section empowered traders to make informed decisions, enhance their trading strategies, and execute trades with confidence.

Conclusion

By collaborating closely with The Sandclock team and adopting a user-centric approach, the product design successfully aligned with the company's vision and business objectives. The streamlined onboarding process, intuitive user interface, and robust research capabilities contributed to an improved user experience, attracting more traders to the platform and increasing user engagement.
