During my masters programme, I worked closely with public organisations to help them tackle a current problem to give me experience in developing solutions to complex and often systemic social issues, like participating in

a clinical trial.

Newcastle P3 Clinical Research Unit (NHS) is responsible for organising and carrying out trial drug trials on behalf of pharmaceutical companies for chronic illnesses like arthritis or asthma. The problem is that for non life threatening illnesses, drug trials are often harder to recruit for and there is a much higher dropout rate.

I decided to focus on the the process during participation and participant’s trust in undergoing their clinical trial, a media where they can track their schedules and accessible information surrounding clinical trial and conditions the Phase 3 Unit are focusing on in research.

There was a significant number of insights through user, market,

technology and brand research.

There's also more research through interview transcripts with potential audiences and developing personas, user stories, empathy maps and noting down participant’s journey touch points to determine threat and opportunities.

This is one of my first UI projects and it really inspires me to do projects and collaborations where I can learn more and improve in UI design
