Mutant Zoo: Cowl

Part cow, part owl, this creature was originally bred to be a living care package to humans stranded for a long period of time. Docile and obedient, yet wise enough to find their targets, the cowl was particularly useful in times of war for sustaining soldiers trapped behind enemy lines. Since cowls travel at night, they're much more likely to reach a target undiscovered, after all. Capable of producing milk for several months, or, the ultimate [tasty] sacrifice if necessary, whether you were stuck on a deserted island, or just stuck in the desert, cowls made surviving the experience much more likely. Of course, docile and obedient as they may be, eventually the breed became too wise to fly to their potential doom, and became unreliable. Those that remain now reside in the MuZoo and are mostly useful for catching those pesky shrewnicorns.
