Contactless Dining Application

Project Overview

In the fall of 2019, my brother and his friends recognized a unique niche in the market of SAAS applications in the hospitality industry; on-premise ordering at fast casual restaurants. I joined them to design the user interface of this product that would mimic the interaction between a guest and a server while maintaining the guest experience at a restaurant.

Who, What & Why

Digital ordering solutions for restaurant goers often came with bulky hardware that needed regular maintenance. After the global pandemic, many restaurant goers became health conscious, concerned over dirty menus or interaction with serving staff. How can Glyde alleviate these concerns while also keeping hospitality intact and how can the digital real estate of a guest's mobile device help improve restaurant operations?

Solution

Most online ordering applications have been an iOS or Android app. However, downloading an application while a guest is hungry and waiting to order was not a feasible solution and would drive down adoption rates significantly. To provide dine in guests quicker access to the menu or ordering, Glyde was built on the web with nothing but a QR code at the table that guests can scan with their phone cameras and instantly load the menu for the table they are seated at.
