Khichuri poem Picture Book

Bengali poem children's book illustration in Mexican Alebrijes art style

Recreation of the iconic Bengali poem Khichuri by a true legend, Sukumar Ray in the Mexican Alebrijes art form.

Sukumar Ray was most famous for creating his "nonsense" literature and poems for children. His most celebrated works include Abol Tabol, Pagla Dashu, Ha Ja Ba Ra La and much more. The poem, Khichuri has been taken from his collection of poems Abol Tabol. Khichuri mainly talks about different fusion of animals that the poet dreams of.

PS: People outside of Bengal might know him as the father of the renowned Bengali film director, Satyajit Ray.

Alebrijes are vibrant and fantastical Mexican spirit guides. These whimsical creatures combine various animal and mythical elements. They used to be typically made from papier-mâché or carved from wood and then painted with bright, bold colors and intricate patterns, but now can be seen in paper and even digital platforms as artworks. Alebrijes have become a significant cultural symbol of Mexico in the recent years.
