Be Legendary — Lady Timp and Lord of The Lake Icons and Patterns

This brand, created for the UVU Ambassador program, is meant to inspire and motivate ambassadors to bring the best of who they are to all they do as a representative of the university, and to help them recognize that they are part of a rich heritage and tradition of ambassadorship excellence. While some brand elements are advertised to the wider campus community, most are reserved only for the eyes of those in the program, creating a sense of secrecy and belonging to something exclusive and important.

This small booklet, given to each ambassador, contains legends and lore, teaches them the foundational principles upon which the program is built, and inspires them to leave a legacy of their own.

Between the towering peaks of Mt. Timpanogas and the sparkling waters of Utah Lake...

The legend of Lady Timp and Lord of the Lake tells the love story of the university being forged through the teamwork, unity, and love of these two different, yet complementary, individuals.

Custom patterns and icons were created for each persona. The challenge was to create portraits that were relatable and recognizable but also mythical in nature. The final portraits emerged from an iterative process, greatly simplified from the style of their original sketches.

The original sketches for Lady Timp and Lord of the Lake were inspired by Egyptian mummy portraits, some of the oldest portraits known to the world.
