I travel a lot across Argentina with my beloved Grand Vitara and I always take a lot of photos of the places I visit and of course, of the car in those places. So, I really wanted to create a sticker about my Grand Vitara and the travelling to stick in different places on the road, something really common on the Argentinian roads and touristic places.

But a common problem in my designer life (and maybe something normal for a lot of designers) is that when I try to design something for myself is really difficult for me, I'm not really sure what to do or what I want.

I was playing around with Mid-journey, creating meaningless stuff just for fun and in that moment I had this simple idea: I can use AI as a tool to sketch some ideas for this sticker and then just can select one of them and use it as a base for the final sticker.

So, I started to describe what I wanted on the sticker thinking on my favorite things about those travels: Patagonia, Mountains, Sunset, Off-road, SUV, Warm. I think the final phrase I used it was something like: "A flat illustration of a SUV vehicle doing off-road on the Patagonia Argentina at sunset". And these are some of the result I pick for create the final design 👇

Personally, I loved the colors and lights of the generated illustration. But obviously the rest of it is pretty generic with a lot of errors and weird stuff.

So, using those colors and base I started to illustrate my SUV and it turned out great.

Then I used a mixture of the different version of the mountains simplifying some stuff and adding some other details, but keeping it very simple to no compete so much with the car.

Conclusion

Personally, I think the IA it could be a really good tool in the times where you're really stuck with something and don't really know what to do or how to start. Because with the simple exercise of writing what do you need, you are making a really good summary of the thing you need to design. But I think is just that, a good kick to start something, not a final design.
