Illustration - American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE)

AAWE hosts an annual conference in different countries worldwide. Each year the association commissions a local artist to create a unique illustration of grapes, connecting to their economics research focus in wine studies.

The 2023 conference was held in South Africa, and I was truly honoured to be chosen as the local artist for this year's conference. With this project, I played with the idea of abstracting grapes into a sort of 'Jam'. Previous years illustrations explored a variety of artistic styles, and I envisioned a surrealist, digital take on the fruit.

My passion for design, inspired me to explore some more ideas beyond my illustration to create various use cases of the illustration on conference signage and print media. Overall it was a great experience working with a dream client, navigating their open and interesting project brief. So, take a peek at some of those ideas!
