CEMU Emulator UI Redesign

CEMU is a Windows-based emulator for the Nintendo Wii U console, developed by a third party team since 2015. It is very much feature complete at this point, but its user interface is still extremely basic, a result of the team rightfully prioritizing functionality over looks.

While updating my portfolio in early 2022, I decided to take a break and replay some games using CEMU, only to be met with its barebones UI. Rather than being a turn off, it instead inspired me to work on this next piece as a passion project.

I was intimately familiar with the needs and wants of the user base as a result of being a user myself, and decided to share the completed design with the emulator’s community and developers. The reaction was overhelmingly positive, with many users asking for the design to be made a reality as soon as possible.
