Rappaw: Inclusive Dog-Walking App
Project Overview
Why I did this project
I was curious to explore how design could be used to develop a solution that addresses a social challenge, while also being visually engaging and inclusive
to all.
Design Brief
Design a platform that links dog owners with dog walkers and prioritizes building trust. That way, owners can feel confident that their beloved pets are well taken care of.
Problem Statement
There aren't enough dog-walking services that cater to the needs of dog owners with different abilities. It's hard to find something that fits their needs, even though there are more of them than ever. So, my goal is to create a dog-walking service that's accessible and personalized. That way, busy dog owners with disabilities can easily find trustworthy dog-walkers who will take good care of their furry friends.
User Research
I embarked on research journey, interviewing eight enthusiastic participants through Google Hangouts video chats and phone calls. They shared their unique perspectives on their ideal dog walking service, giving valuable insights and fueling innovation.
Market Research
I analyzed four different popular apps in the market that provided dog-walking services. I also looked into a web-based service specifically for dog owners with disabilities. I focused on the visual design (look and feel), the services they offer, and how they functioned.
User Persona
User Flow
This flow was designed to allow new customers to browse the app without having to sign up. They can view dog walkers however they are not able to submit a booking until they log in or signup.
This Is Where The Visual Design Begins
After diving into user and market research, I began creating visual designs for the app based on everything I learned.
Initial Sketches and Low Fidelity Wireframes

Moodboard
The moodboard served as a visual collage, bringing together a curated collection of images, colors, textures, and other visual elements that captured the essence of the desired aesthetic.
The Logos
For the Rappaw brand, I crafted a primary logo as well as variations, selected a color palette, and defined the typography styles. The brand name "Rappaw" cleverly combines the concepts of dog paws and the bond formed between a dog owner and their furry friend.

Outcomes & Results
I successfully created an app that connects dog owners and walkers in a safe and all-embracing way!
It'd be amazing to witness in real life how the Rappaw app might improve the lives of dog owners with disabilities.
Visual design is where my heart is at! I dedicated my attention to it for this project.
This was a terrific exercise where designing was combined with a positive social impact. It expanded my thinking beyond the project to discover more ways that product design could create solutions to social challenges we all face.
I wish I had more time and resources to gain additional user insights and see how the app could be further improved.
