Trackmate is a provider of GPS tracking solutions, helping companies and individuals protect their vehicles by providing real-time data and custom solutions in an affordable way.
Project Background
Our first project together with the Trackmate team started back in February 2021 with the redesign of one of its latest trackers in the market: the Domino LTE.
Fast forward to April 2021 and we got back together this time with a much bigger and exciting project expanding multiple fields.
The task?...
Finalize the redesign of the TrackmateGPS desktop and mobile app, lead the design of new Amazon listings for all of Trackmate’s family of devices, and support all necessary design work in between projects.

What we did?
Project assessment and roadmap definition.
Since a big part of the desktop app was built in a previous project, we started our process by assessing all work available and identifying the best road forward with the rest of the screens.
This initial assessment allowed us to establish a clear roadmap of all work that needed to be done with a complete list of screens and their respective list of features; after combining this initial assessment with an entire design system already in place, we had all tools we needed to inform our decisions and move forward with the design process.
Wireframing & Design
Once we had every tool we needed to inform our designs, and since we already had a full design system in place, we opted to approach the design system as a hybrid process.
This hybrid approach helped us combine wireframing and high-fidelity design into in single process that allowed us to design and iterate better solutions in just a fraction of the time, with the direct collaboration of product owners.
We used the same approach for each screen and device which resulted in a fully responsive and consistent solution.
Developer handoff and implementation
Once all designs were approved it was time to hand off all work to the development team so they could implement all designs and give life to the newly designed platform.
To achieve this we conducted several feedback sessions between the design, development, and managing team to ensure all functionalities, components, and design specifications were met and resembled the original vision for the product as closely as possible.

Takeaways
This project has been full of learning, creativity, and close collaboration with the TrackmateGPS team and developers to ensure the design of an easy-to-use tracking platform accessible for everyday users.
Throughout the process, we've learned how vital GPS Tracking technology is for companies of all sizes and individuals in need of protecting their vehicles and loved ones; and we’ve seen how much capabilities and flexibility the Trackmate family of devices provides to all users in search of safety and round-the-clock protection.
On a product side, it has been one the largest contract projects we’ve worked on so far, and couldn’t be more thankful to the TrackmateGPS team for their professionalism, dedication, and trust to lead multiple design projects that will take a part in the continuous growth of the company.
