Leaves of Grass Cover

I spent part of this weekend completing lessons on Skillshare, including one by Jessica Hische. The assignment was to create a book cover in the same vein as her Penguin drop cap series.

I used Leaves of Grass because it's my favorite, and found most of my inspiration in Song of Myself. I kept coming back to the idea of grass making up the W since grass represents so much. I wanted the two shorter diagonal strokes to overlap because interconnectedness is a big theme. I also added in some stars in the background because Whitman talks a lot about stars and the universe.
