404 Errors

When it comes to the Internet, there are some connection errors that end users cannot control - like 404 errors. In this shot, we see a part of the Investio homepage, where one of the sections failed to load.

Investio is a platform that provides investors, analysts, marketers, and competitors, with a competitive advantage by uncovering trends and consumer behaviour through social media scanning.

This section in particular, The Weekly Pickup, acts as an entryway to one of their most popular features - the Patterns page.

So the structure of the message is simple and straightforward: if I have no control over this, what now? We explain what the error is, reassure we’re working on fixing it, but in the meantime, here’s a giant button directing you to explore the Patterns page.

We leverage the fact the user is lost (even if just momentarily) to steer them where we want them to go. Of course, they are free to navigate elsewhere, but they don’t feel the app has left them high and dry.

This design can be effortlessly plugged into any connection or 404 error scenario, to make sure users are always left smiling 🙂
