Boltic Design System
Boltic is a no-code/low-code big ops data platform that empowers users to solve complex data problems, automate workflows, and build & share reports at scale. It enables users to seamlessly connect data from multiple sources, transform it, and send it to desired destinations. As part of the design team at Boltic, I played a crucial role in creating a design system that would enhance the user experience and make working with data easy and accessible for all.
The design system for Boltic needed to effectively communicate ease and simplicity to non-technical users. It was essential to ensure that the overall process of working with data felt approachable and user-friendly. The design system had to strike a balance between vibrant new design styles and the simplicity of minimalism. It needed to convey a sense of calm and zen while avoiding excessive flashiness.
To understand the user needs and preferences, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the competition in the big ops data platform space as well as design systems of other SaaS products. We also interviewed existing users of similar platforms to gain insights into their pain points and expectations. This research allowed us to identify the strengths and weaknesses of other design systems and informed our decision-making process for Boltic.
The Boltic design system consists of carefully selected components that cater to the unique requirements of the platform. We developed a color palette that included purple to communicate creativity and inspiration. The use of white and grey conveys seriousness and stability, aligning with the mission-critical nature of the data handled by businesses. The typography was chosen to be clean and legible, ensuring clear communication of information
The Boltic design system had a profound impact on the user experience and the overall success of the platform. Users appreciated the intuitive and user-friendly interface, enabling them to solve complex data problems with ease. The design system's cohesive visual language and consistent interactions improved the efficiency of workflows and report building. Through feedback and analytics, we observed increased user satisfaction, productivity, and scalability
