Andy first came to myself via Linkedin, he was looking to refresh an application, that was still in development but looking a bit bleak.
Engager is a complete practice management system aimed at small businesses, purposely designed by accountants for accountants and bookkeepers on a subscription based platform with it’s sole purpose around managing payments and accounts within a kanban style.
Research
To design the Engager apps new user experience, I conducted user research to understand the needs, behaviors, and preferences of small business owners and accountants. Based on my research, I identified the following user needs:
The ability to manage all accounts within one easy to use interface
Have the needed tools to manage each account within a drop
Analytics to understand real time data, live changes and accounts running
Findings & Design
Usability testing revealed several areas for improvement in its user experience in which led me to looking out ways to show more elements for tools within a smaller space, each area consisted of a small account box detailing specific accounts, amongst a an array of boxes, each with there won account.
I worked on the following to adjust and evolve the experience to better navigate the user to each account with the necessary tools to use:
Compress and distribute accounts in a minimal space.
Navigate between tools effectively.
Display analytics and the right amount data.
Customize the screens to display the accounts and information necessary to the user
Website Design
following on from the application I was asked to redesign and develop the website with a new brand and visual of the new interfaces. Leading on from this it was required that we create a new feature for one of the main integrations and partners Armalytix, this was to be a more specific show piece design combining the styles of Armalytix and Engager.
Conclusion
Following this, I still work with Engager and Wainwrights Accountants today helping modify future feature, branding and campaigns.
