Art Deco in Hawaii - "The Modern"

I recently had a vacation in Hawaii again and visited HOMA (Honolulu Museum of Art) while I stayed in Honolulu. There were various art pieces from old Polynesian woodwork to modern sculptures. The thing that grabbed my attention was the book "Art Deco Hawaii" that HOMA exhibited several years ago. I haven't finished reading it yet, but it has beautiful and exciting content, leading me to create this vintage-style illustration.

Hawaiian Art Deco is something unique to me because Hawaii was not industrialized early 20th century as much as the mainland. When we think about Art Deco, we usually think of large symmetric buildings and very decorative appearances with bright golden colors but Hawaiian Art Deco seems more focused on nature itself, their own culture, and beautiful scenery. According to the book, it is a "romanticized interpretation of Hawaiian culture."
