Hermeus | Quarterhorse Visual Identity
Hermeus | Quarterhorse Visual Identity
As part of a staged development roadmap, Hermeus will create three unique aircraft – each requiring a distinct yet complementary identity. The first of these three is Quarterhorse, a remotely piloted high-speed aircraft.
Like its namesake, the American Quarter Horse, it will be a short-distance sprinter with the goal of validating Hermeus' Chimera engine, touching Mach 4+ speeds, and setting a new airspeed record.

Inspired by the American Quarterhorse, our top priority for the aircraft's identity was to capture a sense of speed, motion, and raw energy.
This strategy lead us to rely on smooth and elongated curves to imply the distortion of an object moving at incredible speed, a forward-leaning pose representative of a horse mid-race, and a focused gaze for the horse's expression.
Complementing the logo, the wordmark showcases a sense of speed through its wider proportions and more aggressive italic angle.
