Neko Night Market Logo
About a year ago, I was feeling pretty depressed, The film industry which was my main job was still in a ton of flux from the pandemic, and I was feeling about as uncreative as I ever had.
I used to draw all the time in college and quite a bit a few years ago but as more time went by and I became more focused on filmmaking I slowly lost drawing as a hobby it just feels away like so many other things do as you get older and need to pay for rent and food but in the back of my mind, I always thought it would be cool to draw t-shirt designs and have a business built on drawing stuff I loved that I could wear and show to the world.
I was in my family's house and walked past a curio cabinet my mom has and saw a lucky cat statue that I bought her when I was living in Japan as an exchange student. It brought back some great memories of my time there and my love of Maneki-Neko. I had also adopted two cats a year before and wanted to immortalize them in some way. I thought it would make for a cool logo but wanted to put my weirder more pop surrealism vibes on it.
And I started drawing again, and holy shit it felt so good to draw again, it had been almost 3 years since I picked up a pen and really wanted to draw something but this just felt so good. I did a few different versions but this ultimately became my new logo and our new head mascot for my new business. I hope to grow this into more than just print on demand but for now, I'm just so happy to be drawing again that anything that allows me to do it more often feels pretty amazing.
so without further ado, our humble little logo features our mascot Mr. Alucard Trevor the ever-lucky ever cursed oni cat. named after my two adopted cats and has the coloring of both of them (one's pure black and one looks like a cow)
This logo means a lot to me and I hope you enjoy it too :)
