The Face of Victory

The winning piece for the Preakness 2023 Art of Racing competition. I wanted to focus on the true winner of the race, the horse. So I did a thoroughbred’s face in MD flag colors with that white stream they have on their face as the Preakness trophy and being garnered with Black Eyed Susans (the MD state flower and the horse’s trophy). All done to convey the image of victory and winning the race that is so entrenched in Maryland’s history.
