GIF - The Grass I Found ...
Woohoo! π
This time it's about creating GIFs. So, I thought it would be fun to create a simple GIF using Figma with basic shapes. One idea led to another, and suddenly I found myself knee-deep in a GIF-making madness. A simple idea turned into an all-out GIF factory, courtesy of Figma's design magic!
Discovered a few fascinating GIF facts during the research journey!
Like, the GIF format was created in 1987 by a team at CompuServe, an early online service provider, led by Steve Wilhite, to compress and exchange images more efficiently.
In May 2013, Steve Wilhite, the creator of the GIF format, announced during the Webby Awards acceptance speech that the correct pronunciation of "GIF" is actually "JIF." Although, some people pronounce it with a hard "g" sound, similar to "gift" without the "t."
GIF, which stands for Graphics Interchange Format, logically feels like it should be pronounced with a hard 'g' because of the 'Graphics' part. But hey, it's Steve Wilhite's creation, so he's the GIF guru who gets to set the rules! ππ So, whether you say "GIF" with a hard 'g' or "JIF" like the peanut butter, let's just keep the GIF party going and embrace the joy it brings! πΊ
