Chicago Event Poster
This is the final treatment of my "chicago" custom type. The poster is for the We Need More Summer Tour 2011 stop in Chicago.
I wanted to depict the city through a part of its history, and I wanted to avoid taking the obvious route.
The area around Chicago was once populated with numerous native american tribes. The name of the city itself is generally considered to have derived from the native word shikaakwa - meaning "stinky onion," a plant that abounded in the swampy lowlands where Chicago now sits.
And now you know the rest of the story.
