Midas Touched

"Midas Touched," February 2022, marker and colored pencil on paper, 15" x 18"

Inspired by the myth of King Midas, this piece features the word “Gold” illustrated in Greek and the work “Midas” illustrated in ASL. Colored pencil was used for the hands to show softness and represent Midas’s humanity. Marker was used for the gold to show its solidity and represent the idea that Midas’s golden touch caused him to lose his humanity, as the gold encases parts of the hands.
