Quick search - Workspace

➡️ Workspace is a platform where corporate employees get secure access to apps, remote desktops, integrations, and files from one space.

➡️ Project goal was to establish a vision for a quick & federated search that allows users to search across multiple systems of records by a relevancy-ranked list of results.

➡️ 3 key design patterns to note:

👉 Users tend to type first, only then narrow search contexts.

Testing showed that adding context before the query didn't perform well, so context pills were replaced with advanced search affordance.

👉 Removed the number of results.

Different data sources were loading results at different speeds, hence the number was always changing and adding friction to the scanning UX.

👉 One list of results over sectioned lists.

Testing showed that sectioned search results tend to hide relevant results below. E.g. When you need to find a file, but the first section is always "Apps", then your needed file would always require scrolling down to find it.
