Kingsmen Digital Ventures Redesign
We wanted KDV website to make a state of the art, don't look like anything else, create our own identity which does not look like many other trendy websites around the world.
2020
I think it's time to redesign our website...
In 2020, we entertained the idea of revamping our website, which led to our initial attempt at redesign. While the concept made slight improvements in terms of cleanliness and aesthetics, it still fell short of setting us apart from other agencies
At the time, the Kingsmen brand lacked a cohesive direction. And new website concept simply incorporated legacy colors, fonts, and a logo, without a unified vision for the brand as a whole for the future.
2021 Q4
Let's actually do it!
In 2021, as our company experienced significant growth and formed new partnerships, it became clear that having an average agency website was no longer acceptable. Website was not representing who we were, and neither representing of where we are going.
Therefore, we developed a fresh concept that served as the cornerstone for our future brand image. A key element of this concept is the signature font: 'PP Monument.' This font aptly captures the dynamic, forward-thinking, and daring essence of our company's vision.
Aligned with the prevailing trend of the time and projected to remain relevant for the foreseeable future, our concept embraced a dark color scheme, with black as the primary brand color. Although visually appealing, we acknowledged that this version would require another significant redesign in a couple of years to keep up with evolving design trends.
2022 Q1
Should we go black or white?
Considering the ever-changing nature of design trends, it raises the question: is it feasible to create a timeless modular structure for website design? Furthermore, what if, instead of imposing our brand style on users, we prioritize their experience and adapt our brand accordingly to the environment?
This line of thinking led us to develop our final modular design, which supports both dark and light versions. Now, our website seamlessly inherits the device settings and dynamically loads either the dark or light version based on user preferences. By embracing this approach, we ensure that our brand adapts harmoniously to the user's chosen environment, enhancing their overall experience.
Thrilled with the concept, we proceeded to design the remaining pages. The integration of rich assets became a central focus in the new design. Photography, motion graphics, and footage played pivotal roles in bringing our vision to life (although we had yet to produce and design these assets).
To seamlessly incorporate dark and light modes into our design, we devised a simple design system that allowed us to reference the transition between the two modes within our modular design. This approach greatly facilitated the visualization of dark mode and ensured its consistency throughout the website.
After finalizing all the mockups, we proceeded to hand them off to our proficient web development team, who transformed our vision into a tangible reality. While the developers diligently worked on creating new pages and implementing essential functionalities, we shifted our attention to the crucial element that truly elevated our design: content.
Content driven design required a brand new sets of videos, photos and motion graphics.
For two weeks, we transformed our office into a production studio in order to create all the necessary pieces of content.
To enhance the presentation of our case studies, we created a set of video background covers for selected projects and mockups, aiming to immerse the reader in each individual project.
Once we acquired all the necessary assets, we proceeded to update the placeholders in the mockups with our real assets. Seeing our unique videos and photos truly made the new design shine. Furthermore, we prepared the files for the web development team, ensuring a smooth update in our staging environment and getting ready to push it to production.
