UAS Ground Control Station

Floor 23 Multi-Aircraft Control Challenges: UAS Ground Control Station (Sponsored by the NASA Tournament Lab) Phase 2 Submission

🏆 Awarded 1st Prize

NASA is researching future aviation operations where operators (or “pilots”) will simultaneously control multiple aircraft remotely. Therefore, the ground control station software must provide sufficient information to ensure safety and efficiency without cluttering the display and overloading the operator. NASA has already developed a ground control station software called MPATH (Measuring Performance for Autonomy Teaming with Humans).

As part of the challenge, I provided novel ideas and designs to support improvements to the MPATH multi-vehicle control functionality. I improved the user interface (UI) designs of a ground control station (GCS) based on existing user interface designs and updated information display requirements for MPATH.
