Overview

This is my exploration for a music app. My goal was to use trending colors cyan and hot pink to create a music app design that digs into the nostalgia of browsing your CD shelf, opening up a CD case and playing music.

Wireframe & Iterations

I used a simple music app wireframe and created several iterations during the process.

I used Dribbble as inspiration, drawing ideas from many other great music app designs. I then modified the original wireframe to make it more user friendly and used the Finesse UI kit and Feather Icons to speed up my design time.

Mockup & Prototype

Once I had a near-final design for the main screen, I created several other designs for additional screens for the app. Finally, I made a simple prototype to showcase the flow.

Takeaways

This was a short project for me but one that I'm happy with. I had a lot of fun working with these two trending colors. Cyan and hot pink are both very bright and can be difficult to work with. I found the cyan especially difficult due to its intense brightness. By using it only to highlight certain areas, I found it works very well to draw the eye without being too visually overwhelming.
