Research Website Redesign

Website refresh concept for The Office of Research Integrity. (ORI)

What is ORI?

The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) oversees and directs Public Health Service (PHS) research integrity activities on behalf of the Secretary of Health and Human Services with the exception of the regulatory research integrity activities of the Food and Drug Administration.

The Problem

Below is a brief list of paint points and driving forces behind the website redesign effort.

  • Outdated UI design

  • Visibility into research content available on ORI website is unclear

  • UI lacks the ability to guide users through their research journey

  • Exact references or studies are hard to locate due to broad search results (no filters)

  • Frequently used tools or actions are not prominent on the landing page

  • Website lacks accessible features and components

The Solution

Below is the landing page solution for ROI. We enhanced the existing brand standards, improved the overall user experience, and implemented a more modern design approach to the UI.

The final product is a visually stunning and user-friendly website that features mega menus and search functionalities to support detailed research efforts. The content is now more scannable, making it easier for users to find the information they need quickly and efficiently. We are proud of the results and are confident that our new website will serve as a valuable resource for our clients and partners.

Additional Views

Here are shots from the website's main menu features.

The Mega Menu offered a more organized and efficient way of presenting large amounts of information. By grouping related topics together, users can quickly find what they are looking for without having to scroll through multiple pages or menus.

Predictive Search improved the accuracy of search results by suggesting relevant terms and topics along with identifying the type of result that is listed (i.e. document, link, blog post, etc). This feature would reduce the likelihood of users becoming frustrated or leaving the site due to inaccurate or irrelevant search results.
