Early type pairings for an H.P. Lovecraft project

In the early stages of a pet project centered around republishing stories by H.P. Lovecraft in various digital formats. I (the designer/developer) am working with a friend (the illustrator) to reimagine Lovecraft’s stories in an attempt to recontextualize them, not only for a contemporary audience, but one that is (hopefully) made up of more than pre-teen boys.

The body copy is set in Knockout No. 32 Junior Cruiserweight here, which doesn’t contain an italic. I took that as an opportunity to introduce Sentinel, an unexpected pairing that played surprisingly well with this particular weight of Knockout. (See attachment.)
