I wanted to take what would be either one side of an open book or a flag with its pole flowing in the wind. I ended up going for the latter, as it it more easily recognizable.

The process

I took a sinusoidal shape which I then modify to make it look a little more squished and added a pole to the side.

I inspired myself off small flags sometimes flown in events.
