Bitcoin Ordinal NFTs designed for f2pool's 10th anniversary.
It was an honour to work on this in collaboration with @WouterBax and F2Pool, each NFT represents a significant event in crypto for each year since the birth of the world's largest Bitcoin mining pool.
Concept Art | Design Process 1/3
After a brainstorming session and listing many of the significant events for each of the years since 2013, 10 concept art pieces were commissioned for a start to represent the events we deemed most significant.
Modeling & Iteration | Design Process 2/3
After receiving approval on the concept art, we utilised Blender to design the initial island prototype. While we initially explored creating individual compositions for each of the 10 NFTs for each year, we ultimately determined that our time would be better spent configuring lighting systems that can showcase each design in one of five possible lighting environments, either as a traditional island, or as a floating island. This allows us to showcase the designs in a visually stunning and immersive environment without creating extra work that might get lost in the compression anyways.
Texturing & Styling | Design Process 3/3
The final step was the detail work, such as adding the right colours and textures to each and every object. Despite all the work to this point, we kept working on improving the compositions and making the NFTs feel better to look at.
Once all the designs were approved, we released this reveal video following a teaser you can see below. The final designs were then compressed to fit under 40kb each, as inscribing on the Bitcoin blockchain requires small file sizes.
