Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks)

This design is another typographic portrait I made for my Typography class. Again, I chose another favorite wrestler, Mercedes Mone, formally known as Sasha Banks when she wrestled for WWE. Like Shinsuke, she is flashy, bold, and unafraid.

For the image, I used a headshot because I wanted viewers to recognize her right away. For the colors, I used a gradient effect of yellow, orange, red, and purple, in that order. From her head to the ends of her hair, I used a blend of yellow, orange, and red because of her fiery personality. Ironically, she recently wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling with yellow, orange, and blue hair. Talk about a foreshadowing moment! Purple was used for her torso because, in December of 2017, she made history along with Alexa Bliss as the first woman to wrestle in Dubai. Her attire was predominately purple.

For the font, I used Minion Std because it's very similar to one of the fonts used in her original Legit Boss logo and it is very legible. I used the words "Sasha Banks, the boss, the baddest" to combine her name, nickname, and part of her catchphrase, "Who's the baddest?", to capture her identity and reputation as a formidable force in her field. I wanted to make sure viewers can read the essence of her persona. Lastly, I used a white background as a way to use negative space to accentuate her vibrant colors and draw greater attention to her.
