Magazine Spread
This project was completed as part of a final for one of my spring classes. Students were required to create multiple magazine spreads, and make use of the tools we had learned in Adobe InDesign, such as flowing text, character and paragraph styles, and glyphs.
I have loved reading fashion magazines since I was a young girl. After reading through the requirements for the final I was inspired to create a design for a spring issue of Vogue. I sourced the images and text from different fashion articles, but created my own layout and color scheme.
The cover image I selected for this project set the tone for the rest of the magazine spreads I created. I wanted to reuse the colors already found in the image where I could, or find ones that could complement the color scheme when used in small doses.
I had a lot of fun creating spreads that spanned across two pages. This project was limited to eight pages (a cover, a back, and six inner pages) so I wanted the design to feel cohesive. This made me more selective when choosing which images to include.
I wanted the layouts to feel balanced, but not perfectly symmetrical. Throughout the magazine, the text and images are staggered and help lead readers across the pages.
