Overview

This is my exploration for a plant watering tracker app called GROW with custom icons, illustrations, and logo all created by me.

The app features a simple interface where you can add your plants, track the day they were watered and their sunlight needs, and collect photos.

As a plant lover myself, I often forget when I last watered a plant. I did some research and found that there are surprisingly few apps like this out there, so I wanted to create something very simple that someone could download and navigate with ease.

I created six screens for this mockup. Sign in, home page, plant watering information card, adding a plant card, user profile, and photo album.

Moodboard & Style Guide

During the early design phases, I created a moodboard to figure out the color scheme and vibe. I then assembled a color palette as well as creating the logo and custom images.

Wireframe

I made numerous pen sketches of the app's potential appearance with several iterations. As I worked, I tried to think about what should be included, what the user would want or need, and what would add a fun touch. I then created a style guide and a simple wireframe to work off of.

Mockup & Prototype

Once the wireframe was complete and the design system was set up, I designed the screens, tweaking as needed. The result is a mockup and simple prototype of six screens.

Takeaways

As a result, I've strengthed my skills as a UI/visual designer and had fun putting this mockup together. In the future it would be interesting to expand on this project further. Thank you for checking this out and I hope you enjoyed it!
