#94 Piccolo Buco Pizzeria
Country: Italy
Industry: pizza and restaurant
About: Piccolo Buco is a pizza shop next to Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy, whose origins date back to 1916. Piccolo Buco still uses its original wood fired oven, now more than 100 years old. Its methods are following the italian tradition with a long levitation of 48h and using only top quality ingredients.
Words: excellence; heritage; pizza!
Strategy: given the name of this old pizzeria (”piccolo buco” means small hole in Italian) and its traditional oven, I decided to use the wood fired oven as the logo frame - make of roughly-defined bricks and a flame on the top center one. The rough edges of the bricks return again in the main typeface - as well as the crossed pizza peels, placed in the center and around the subheading. The location and date in the center show the long-lasting heritage of this brand.
